Who I am outside of work
I’ve always been creative, and I credit my mom for igniting that part of me. I remember from an early age, my mom sewing a dress or a costume for me or my brother, and I would sit on the floor nearby and make things out of the scraps. She always encouraged that creative side.
As an adult, I see a ‘canvas,’ take it apart and bring it back to new life. Sometimes it’s a dress that just doesn’t look quite right, so I reconstruct it. Other times a dull room will be brought to life with a fresh coat of paint, a shelving unit, and a newly refurbished table.
Recently I discovered how much I love building when I bought my first home. One of the first builds as a homeowner was an entryway organizer. I have a shallow space behind my front door. So I built a custom-sized floor-to-ceiling shelving unit to fit with my trusty Kreg jig. Kreg shares free online project plans, and how they are written closely resembles a fabric or dress pattern. It completely demystified cabinetry for me. My hallway organizer puts everything in place for a quick grab on my way out the door, and it fits the space perfectly. I love adding functionality, not just design. I see the world with possibilities and design accordingly.
I am dog-mom to the best Heeler-Lab mix named Oscar. He is the greatest, and we are pretty much inseparable.
